Haciendas Mundo Maya has a new shop in the recently restored Casa Montejo on the Gran Plaza in Merida. In addition to crafts from the Yucatan they have items from many of the other states of Mexico. A nice selection of books on Mexican crafts as well.
One of our guests was ripped off recently. Jeff went out on his own and bought a guayabera. A couple of days later we were frantically shopping for gifts for the kids and he came across the same shirt for $15 usd and he paid $60 at a shop across the street.
Mo & Katinka bought a hennequen hammock after an hour of bargaining they were happy to pay $150 usd. When they proudy showed it to us we told them it was cotton and worth $20.
